Simply Summer in Geneva!

Simply Summer! is our series of holiday courses at the Academy. It offers students a great opportunity to work with experienced theatre practitioners, specialising in acting, vocal coaching, choreography, and stage combat to name but a few.

Young Performers Workshops (7-10 year olds)

Roald Dahls’ Whizpopping Wonders (1 – 5 July)

Calling all human beans! Join us for a Phizz-whizzing week of drama and games as we explore the work of the most gloriumptous of Children’s authors – Roald Dahl. Create a Frothbuggling performance for family and friends based on characters from his most jumpsquiffing books including The Twits, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, The BFG, Matilda and many more.

Abba Mania! (8 – 12 July)

Oh Abba – how can we resist you! We’re in the mood for a dance and a song – join us for a week of musical theatre fun inspired by the West End production of Mama Mia. Sing and dance your way to our end of week performance for family and friends. What are you waiting for – take a chance on us!

Lights, Camera, Action! (15-19 July)

How would you like to be in the movies? Join us for our hugely popular camp where you get to experience life on and behind the camera. Devise the script, cast the project and head out on shoot for a fun-filled week of life on set. The week culminates with a move premiere in front of family and friends.

The Greatest Show! (22-26 July)

Dance and sing your heart out inspired by the life of PT Barnum – the Greatest Showman on earth! Popping routines, fun vocals and more than a splash of showmanship make this a week not to miss. Featuring songs from Barnum, Pippin and, of course, The Greatest Showman.

The Boy that Fell into a Book (29 July-2 August)

Nine-year-old Kevin is in bed reading Rockfist Slim and the Case of the Green Shakr.  Before he knows it, Kevin falls into the action and meets his favorite detective.  Together they journey through Kevin’s other books, meeting chess players, Red Riding Hood, the Wooblie family, ghosts, and Monique the assassin. Rehearse the play over the week with our creative team before a performance for friends and family on the final day.

Move It (29 July-2 August)

Looking to enhance your street style of dance in one week? Dance your way through a range of styles from urban street to commercial dance. Each consecutive day will be packed full of dance allowing you to experience life as a full-time dancer – all culminating in a dance showcase in front of your family and friends.

Aladdin Jnr (5-9 August)

Stay one jump ahead as you rehearse and perform this toe-tapping Disney musical. Based on the 1992 Academy-Award®-winning film and the 2014 hit Broadway show about the “diamond in the rough” street rat who learns that his true worth lies deep within. Working with our production team on this iconic musical, you will perform to a whole new world (well, your family and friends!) on the final day.

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter (12 – 16 August)

Calling all budding witches and wizards! Magic and delight await our young performers as they explore the characters and stories of the boy who lived. Alongside learning real magic to make even Dumbaldore proud, you will use the skills you have learnt to put on a spell-binding performance in front of family and friends at the end of the week.

Kids Will Rock You (19-23 August)

Get ready to rock out in this gig like no other! Dance and sing your way through some of Broadway and the West End’s biggest rock musicals including We Will Rock You, School of Rock and Rock of Ages before taking to the stage in an electrifying performance for family and friends!

Move It! (1-5 July)

Each consecutive day will be packed full of dance allowing you to experience life as a full-time dancer – all culminating in a dance showcase in front of your family and friends.

The Director’s Cut (8-12 July)

Spend the week working as a team to direct and star in your own short film. You will get to experience what it’s like ‘on set’ – from idea pitching, filming, right through to the movie premiere itself! Get a chance to be both on camera and experience life behind it as you immerse yourself in the world of filmmaking.

Frantic! (15-19 July)

In a world where nothing stops, use the title ‘Frantic’ to ignite your imaginations and devise a brand-new piece of theatre. Using group improvisations to create a powerful story and characters, build your world and tell your tale led by experts in the field of physical and devised theatre.

The Will Experience (22-26 July)

Brush up your Shakespeare and join us for a week exploring the characters, language and themes of some of Will’s best loved plays. Interactive, fun and physical our students will work towards a short performance at the end of the week for family and friends. Where there’s a Will, there’s a play!

TECHNICAL THEATRE (5 -9 August)

Lean how a show is created. How it is lit, how it sounds, how it looks. Working with industry professionals, see how much creativity goes on behind the scenes. Using the production of Aladdin Jnr as a practical project, gets hands on experience in lighting, costume design, stage management (and everything in between!).

An Actor’s Toolbox (5-9 August)

Spend the week with tutors from some of the UK’s top drama schools exploring essential acting skills. Working on scripts, monologues and devised scenes you will hone your acting technique and develop yourself as a performer. Audition tips and advice will be shared, and, if required, assistance in monologue selection can be provided. The week will culminate in a sharing session for family and friends.

Musical Theatre Showcase (12-16 August)

A week-long Musical Theatre camp, learning the repertoire from a whole host of Musicals past and present!

From ‘Everybody’s Talking about Jamie’ and ‘Waitress’ to Dear Evan Hansen’ and ‘Mean Girls’. Throw in some ‘Hamilton’, ‘Chicago’ and ‘Wicked’ and this is an opportunity not to be missed. Working with leading West End practitioners you will sing and dance your way to an epic end of week performance for friends and family.

Mini Performers’ Workshops (5-6 year olds)

Our mini performers discover, explore, create, play, perform, have fun and so much more. Running for 3 hours per day, these camps are designed to stimulate your child’s imagination.

Under the Sea (22-26 July AM & 19-23 August PM)

Explore a world of fascinating characters in the depths of the oceans. Through drama, dance and song venture into the depths and discover what exciting surprises await. Who knows, you may even find a mermaid or treasure!

Fairytales and Fables (22-26 July PM & 5-9 August AM)

Be part of the magic. Using drama, dance and song we will be bringing to life our favourite tales and characters who learn important lessons and have fun filled adventures.

Disney Delights (5-9 August AM & 19-23 August PM)

A whole new world awaits as we leap into the wonderful world of Disney. Using music, drama and dance we will explore characters, scenes and songs in this super-cal-fragilistic-expi-ali-docious week of wonder.

Stage Door Club

Our courses run from 9am – 4.00pm. We understand that these times may not suit everyone.

That’s why, from 4.00pm – 5.30pm Monday – Thursday, we run the STAGE DOOR CLUB. Join us for arts, crafts, films and games as you start to unwind from a whirlwind day of fun and excitement.

20CHF per day, or a one-week pass for 75CHF if booked in advance.

Bookings made on the day (or at the start of a week) are 25CHF per day

The stage door club does not operated on Fridays, as our end of week performance has finished by then.
