Simply Theatre Academy Workshops for schools work in a complimentary way to enhance school curriculums.

For primary schools, we offer three courses. Each are one hour long, though they can be adjusted to suit lesson times where appropriate.

From Page to Stage
(complementing English curriculum)
This workshop uses the background of the current book that students are studying to bring the book to life through drama and theatre. Students express their imagination by exploring characters, relationships and environments, and work together to bring scenes from the book to life!

Myths and Legendary Beasts
(complementing History curriculum)
Explore a range of myths and legends from across the globe and time. Greek Myths – Theseus and the Minotaur to Beowulf, and even Lewis Carol’s famous Jabberwocky poem are brought to life in this fun theatrical workshop

(complementing Maths curriculum)
Two things the Greeks new about: theatre and maths! This workshop uses drama and performing arts techniques to bring Maths to life, and bring a broader awareness and understanding of calculations, geometry and fractions.

For secondary schools, we offer three courses:

Romeo & Juliet (1/2 day workshop)
Shakespeare wrote plays to be performed! Explore the story of Romeo and Juliet and its key themes in this dynamic workshop. Dealing with themes of feuding, love, the role of time and parent relationships, students are encouraged to place these in a modern context. Culminates in a rehearsed text based scene.

Devising Techniques/Playwriting (1/2 day workshop)
This workshop looks at the basics of devising and playwriting – content, story, themes, characters and dialogue. In the class we will be utilizing the students’ own writing when possible, and short folktalkes or other genres, fables, fairy tales, that lend themselves to script creation. Improvisation will be used as a method for collaborative development.

Communication skills for student leaders (Full day workshop)
This is a student tailored version of our corporate workshop for business leaders, looking at developing the skills of listening, control of body language, voice and storytelling to deliver communication objectives to varying audiences.
